Get to know our library – Films and film studies
The ‘Jorge Luis Borges’ Library has a unique collection of films with extensive holdings from all periods of Spanish and Latin American cinema. As with the rest of the library collection, our film holdings are open to the public for anyone that is interested in research, or just interested in spending a nice afternoon watching a film in our quiet and welcoming facility. Membership is available for those that wish to borrow films.

While our library has thousands of films representative of all the Spanish speaking countries, we would like to take a moment to highlight our collection of Peruvian cinema in anticipation of the Third Peruvian Contemporary Film Showcase being held at Institituto Cervantes from September 13th through October 4th.

The next entry in our “Get to know our library” series introduces our collection of didactic materials.
If you are a teacher of Spanish, a student of Spanish, or just someone interested in a little self study, we have materials for you. Our comprehensive collection of educational material ranges from the methodology and philosophy of language education, to exercise books dedicated to reinforcing specific skills. We have materials for complete beginners, intermediate learners and even native speakers that are just looking to polish their skills.

With the new school year upon us, we would like to take a moment to remind the public about the resources and services available at the ‘Jorge Luis Borges’ library at Instituto Cervantes New York.
We have a world-class selection of Spanish language materials, with holding exceeding 85,000 items, making us one of the largest circulating libraries of Spanish language materials in the United States.
Recent Books on Architecture in the Instituto Cervantes Library
In conjunction with the exhibit: YAS: Young Architects from Spain, the library has selected a number of recent publications for anyone interested in doing further research on the topic. The majority deal with Spanish architecture, but there are books about a number of other countries. Many are bilingual editions.
